Benjamin Boakye, the Executive Director for the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), has paid a courtesy call on the Energy Media Group (EMG) at its SSNIT Emporium office, Airport City, Accra.
EMG, a media firm solely dedicated to activities and persons in the energy sector, is the main organizer of the distinguished Ghana Energy Awards and publishers of the Energy Ghana Magazine.
Intent of the call was to congratulate the firm on how far it has come in its operations, exuding integrity and excellence. EMG’s events and programmes, he said, had impacted positively on the sector since its establishment about a decade ago.
Mr Boakye, whose organization has constantly extended support to the company for the last few years, reiterated their continued assistance in terms of research, validation and input for communication and media purposes.
Ing. Henry Teinor, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Media Group, appreciated ACEP’s Executive Director for the call, and noted that the EMG has consistently strived to attain distinction in its operations. He further stated that Mr Boakye is one of the few personalities whose guidance and counsel had contributed to shape the company to this date.
“We are not where we want to be, but we continually endeavour to uphold the integrity of the energy industry, throwing light on what’s being done in all its various aspects,” he said.
Meanwhile, he indicated that the company is steadily growing owing to first of all, the Almighty God’s grace, the mindset of excellence of the organization and an attitude of meeting the needs of players in the sector.
He anticipates that in the next few years, EMG would increase the reach of its impact on the sector with more informative and insightful content, programmes and activities that speak to both current and future needs, and reflect the changing scenes in the sector.
Earlier this month, the GEA Awards Committee paid a working visit to the Ministry of Energy to update it on the status of this year’s event, and request their input for the theme of the 2022 GEA. Once the ministry makes a decision, ensuing activities will kick-start.
Moreover, plans are far advanced for the company to embark on several of its scheduled programmes: Media Launch to announce the opening of nominations for its flagship industry-accepted initiative, the Ghana Energy Awards; the Energy Personalities Outreach Programme (EPOP) for the apex award winners to interact with students of second cycle institutions; the GEA Streetlight Installation Initiative-SII; Courtesy Calls; Nominees’ Announcement; Site Visitation to Prospective Nominees’ Project Sites and the event proper in November.
He, therefore, encouraged players in the energy industry to look forward to a bigger and better event this year.
