Foreign direct investment in Ghana's energy sector reached an all-time high in 2025, with significant capital flowing into both upstream petroleum and renewable energy projects.
Data from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre shows that over $2.3 billion in energy-related FDI was recorded during the year, representing a 35% increase over 2024 figures.
Key investment areas included offshore gas development, utility-scale solar projects in the northern regions, and grid infrastructure modernisation. Several international energy companies also established regional headquarters in Accra, citing Ghana's stable regulatory environment and growing domestic market.
"Ghana continues to demonstrate that it is a reliable destination for energy investment," noted a spokesperson from the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition. "The combination of natural resources, skilled workforce, and progressive policies makes us an attractive proposition for international investors."
The Ghana Energy Awards has played a role in highlighting these achievements, with several past winners being key players in attracting and deploying this investment capital.
